The past year or so...
Well, today is Feb. the 21st...and it seems as though the past year has flown by. SOOOO much has happened and it seems unreal that it has all been smushed into one year. For my own records I want to write down my memories from the year, so if it gets long winded sorry:)
It seems hard to remember the beginning do I will start my way from now and work backwards...
Declan Warner Summerhays joined our family November 16th at 12:16, weighing in at albs 15oz....He made me wait a whole week after my due date. I was going to be induced at 9am on then 16th, but my contractions started at 5am on t he 15th. We went on to the hospital at around 8am only to be sent home and told to come back tomorrow!! Are you crazy I was a week overdue and not very happy about this news. So we drove home. When we got home I wanted to curl up in a ball and not move because of the pain and my anger, but Doug convinced me to go relax and take a shower. So I did, Soon after my shower my water broke so we got right back into the car and drove back to the hospital. They of course admitted me and this time is was abut 2pm. At 5 they came in a and gave me my epidural, and although I was happy to have the pain of the contractions gone, I did not like the feeling of the epidural....It made me feel spacey and very light headed. I hated the feeling that I could not move my legs. about an hour later, I felt horribly nauseous and throw up all over my self. Luckily the nurse was there to help and they turned down the amount of medicine that the epidural gave me and soon after I felt better.
My dad was there, sister and mother in law was there and my cousin was there and of course Doug was there. I enjoyed their company and humor as they helped pass the time. I developed a high fever at around 9 pm and they nurses kept giving medicine to help it, but nothing seemed to help. The fever got higher and i began shivering and shaking and felt pretty horrible. I had no idea how I would have the strength to push this baby out, so I asked Doug and my dad for a blessing. It helped some but I still felt horrible. At 1030 the midwife came in and told me that I was a 9 1/2 cm and that when ever I felt the urge to push that I needed to tell the nurse....So We waited and waited, But I felt nothing....the nurse kept asking me if i felt anything but I felt nothings. At around 1145 she decided to check and see how things were going. And to her surprise Declan was right there and ready to come..
She quickly called the doctor, and I was ready to have him. My dad was in the waiting room and my mother in law had stepped
out to go to the bathroom. By the time she came back, I pushed 3 times and out he came!! It was sooo crazy and I felt so blessed at how easy it was.
It took a few mins for him to really cry but once he did and was all cleaned and measured everyone got to hold him and that was such a cool moment. My favorite was seeing Doug hold him for the first time, About 45 mins mins later I held him for the first time and was still in shock at what had just happened.
I did feel sad that my mother missed this experience but I know she was there in spirit and would of been so happy to witness it. I was very blessed to have such a great support team there and it would not of been the same if they were not all there!
New Computer
Well, I am back and hopefully now on a more regular basis. Doug and I just of a new iMac and I LOVE it, so now that we actually have a reliable computer I can actually blog now. I need to be better at it, especially for my own use. I figure if I blog on a semi regular basis I can print out the blog and use it as a family journal.
